BARITON
Andrija Sekulić, baritone, was born in 2001 in Loznica, Serbia. He studied flute at the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade under Prof. Miomir Simonović. He completed his Bachelor's degree in opera singing under Prof. Snežana Stamenković at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim, where he is currently pursuing a Master's degree in her class.
During his studies, he has won numerous national and international awards, including the Grand Prix at the Slavic Music Competition “Garmonia” in Russia, the 1st Prize at the International Singing Competition “Lazar Jovanović” in Serbia, 1st Prize at the “József Simándy” Competition in Hungary, and 1st Prize at the Swiss International Music Competition.
He made his operatic debut as the Commendatore and Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Other roles include Redžep Aga in Binički’s Na uranku, Uberto in Pergolesi’s La serva padrona, Papageno in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, the Professor in Hindemith’s Hin und Zurück, Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Harlequin in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, and the Conspirator in Kurt Weill’s Der Zar lässt sich fotografieren, performed at both Oper Frankfurt and Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. He has also appeared at Oper Frankfurt as part of the vocal ensemble in Vito Žuraj’s Blühen.
Upcoming engagements include Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore at the Operaosa Festival Montenegro.
As a concert soloist, he has performed works such as C. P. E. Bach’s Magnificat, J. G. Rheinberger’s Mass in C major, Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Stabat Mater, J. S. Bach’s Cantata No. 188, Fauré’s Requiem, and J. Slavenski’s Symphony of the Orient (Religophonia).
He is a three-time recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium, Fritz Wunderlich Stipendiat 2026, holder of the “Dositeja” Fund for Young Talents of the Republic of Serbia, recipient of the City of Loznica Scholarship, and a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Foundation. He was a member of the Belgrade Baroque Academy in 2017 and 2021.
Andrija has worked and collaborated with artists such as Markus Köhler, Snežana Brzaković, Katherine Whyte, Marina Nenadović, Dejan Gavrić, Srba Dinić, Mauro Trombetta, Predrag Gosta, Dragana Radaković, Christian Hilz, Axel Bauni, Nikola Mijailović, Matej Zupan, Miomir Simonović, Karolina Bäter, Sándor Gyüdi, Thomas Höpp, and Julia Lezhneva.
