SOPRAN
Lucija Spevec was born in Varaždin, Croatia, where she began her vocal training in the class of Prof. Darija Hrejnović. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in the class of Prof. Gabriele Lechner, where she continues her studies under the mentorship of tenor Rainer Trost, conductor Hartmut Keil, and director Roland Schwab.
In 2019, at the age of nineteen, she made her debut as Manja in the operetta Countess Marica by Emmerich Kálmán at the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin.
Since 2021, she has been a regular guest performer at the Varaždin Baroque Evenings Festival.
On the operatic stage, she has portrayed the roles of Bastienne (W. A. Mozart, Bastien und Bastienne), Vitellia (W. A. Mozart, La Clemenza di Tito), Donna Elvira (W. A. Mozart, Don Giovanni), Fiordiligi (W.A.Mozart, Cosi fan tutte), Second Witch and Spirit (H. Purcell, Dido and Aeneas), Mother (E. Humperdinck, Hänsel und Gretel), Ms. Jessel (B. Britten, The Turn of the Screw), Bessy (K. Weill, Mahagonny Songspiel), Nella (G. Puccini, Gianni Schicchi), and Ms. Pinkerton (G. C. Menotti, The Old Maid and the Thief), Charlotte (E. Křenek, Der Diktator).
In 2026, she is singing the role of Elaine O’Neill in the European premiere of John Musto’s opera Later the Same Evening.
In the 2026/2027 season, she will sing the title role of Susanna in Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari’s Il segreto di Susanna and Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte with Kammeroper München and appear as Agathe in Weber’s Der Freischütz in Walbrzych, Poland.
She is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes at international competitions and regularly collaborates with renowned artists.
